About Culture & Heritage Destinations

Culture & Heritage

Vietnam's history spans thousands of years, and for honeymoon couples the country's cultural destinations offer a depth of experience that goes far beyond sightseeing. From ancient trading ports to imperial citadels, these are places where you can walk through history together and discover a side of Vietnam that stays with you long after you leave.

Hanoi, the capital, is the natural starting point — a city of tree-lined boulevards, French colonial architecture and a street-food scene that rivals anywhere in Asia. The Old Quarter, Temple of Literature and Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum are all walkable, and the city's lakeside setting gives it a romantic, unhurried atmosphere.

The imperial city of Hue was Vietnam's capital for over a century, and its vast citadel, royal tombs and pagodas along the Perfume River make it one of the country's most atmospheric destinations. Nearby, the ancient Hindu temples of My Son sit in a jungle-clad valley and are best visited at dawn before the heat builds.

The lantern-lit streets of Hoi An are arguably Vietnam's most romantic setting — a beautifully preserved trading port where you can have clothes tailored, take a cooking class together, and cycle out to a quiet beach. In the south, Ho Chi Minh City offers a completely different energy, with rooftop bars, war museums and buzzing markets.

History enthusiasts may also want to visit the DMZ near the former border between North and South Vietnam, or the remarkable Cu Chi Tunnels on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City — both offering sobering and unforgettable insights into Vietnam's recent past.
