A sweeping bay, world-class diving and geothermal mud baths make Nha Trang one of Vietnam's most rewarding beach honeymoon stops.
Nha Trang wraps around one of Vietnam's most beautiful bays, with six kilometres of white sand backed by a palm-lined promenade and over 300 days of sunshine a year. The bay's islands offer some of the best snorkelling and diving in the country.
Between dips in the sea, soak together in hot mineral mud piped from 100 metres underground, explore 8th-century Cham towers on the headland, or ride the world's longest over-water cable car to Hon Tre Island. Six Senses Ninh Van Bay, reachable only by speedboat, is one of Vietnam's most exclusive resorts.
The city curves around a sheltered bay dotted with islands, the Cai River slipping past ancient Cham towers to the north and forested headlands framing the coastline to the south. Cam Ranh International Airport is 35 kilometres away, with direct flights from Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Seoul and Bangkok.
Hon Mun Island, Vietnam's first marine protected area, sits less than 30 minutes offshore with over 350 coral species and visibility that can reach 30 metres between July and September. Back on land, the Po Nagar Cham Towers have stood on a granite hilltop since the 8th century, still drawing worshippers alongside visitors. For something completely different, the mineral mud baths at Thap Ba and I-Resort offer private couples pools fed by geothermal springs.
Evenings centre on the beachfront. The Sailing Club has been the city's social anchor for years, with bonfires on the sand and DJs after dark. For something quieter, Skylight on the 43rd floor of the Premier Havana Hotel has panoramic views across the bay. Street-level, Lac Canh serves the city's best tabletop barbecue, with beef marinated in honey and a secret spice blend that has kept locals coming back for decades.
January to March is ideal, with low humidity, clear skies and calm seas averaging 25 to 28 degrees. April to August is warm and good for diving, though increasingly humid. Avoid September to November when the northeast monsoon brings heavy rain and occasional typhoons.
Cam Ranh International Airport has daily flights from Ho Chi Minh City (1 hour) and Hanoi (1 hour 50 minutes), with international connections from Seoul, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. The airport is 35 kilometres south of the city, about 45 minutes by car. We arrange private transfers for all our honeymoon packages.
