Golden beaches, the Marble Mountains and easy access to Hoi An and Hue make Da Nang central Vietnam's most versatile honeymoon base.
Da Nang gives you more variety in a single stop than almost anywhere else in Vietnam. Nine kilometres of golden sand along My Khe Beach, five sacred limestone mountains ten minutes inland, and two of the country's most romantic towns within an hour's drive.
Spend the morning exploring sunlit caves and centuries-old pagodas inside the Marble Mountains, the afternoon at an infinity pool overlooking the East Sea, and the evening watching the Dragon Bridge breathe fire over the Han River. The luxury resorts here rival anything in Southeast Asia, with InterContinental, Hyatt, Fusion Maia and Naman Retreat all on the coast.
Central Vietnam's largest city sits on a curving bay between the Son Tra Peninsula and the Marble Mountains, with the Hai Van Pass to the north and the lantern-lit streets of Hoi An 30 kilometres to the south. The airport is just 15 minutes from the beach strip, making arrival effortless.
What sets Da Nang apart is the range. My Khe Beach faces east, so mornings start with sunrise over the water. By mid-morning you could be riding the world's longest single-track cable car up to the Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills, 1,400 metres above sea level, where giant stone hands hold a 150-metre walkway above the clouds. Back at sea level, the Marble Mountains offer caves with shafts of sunlight piercing collapsed ceilings, plus 400-year-old pagodas carved into the rock.
The food alone is worth the visit. Mi Quang, Da Nang's signature dish, is a bowl of turmeric-infused flat noodles with shrimp, pork and peanuts served with just enough rich broth to coat the bottom. Banh xeo are crispy turmeric crepes stuffed with prawns and bean sprouts, wrapped in rice paper at the table. In the evenings, the Son Tra Night Market at the foot of Dragon Bridge serves grilled seafood by the kilo while rooftop bars like Sky36 light up above the river.
February to May is ideal, with dry sunny days averaging 25 to 30 degrees and calm seas for swimming. June and July are warm but increasingly humid. Avoid September to November when typhoon season brings heavy rain and rough seas along the central coast.
Da Nang International Airport has daily direct flights from Hanoi (1 hour 20 minutes) and Ho Chi Minh City (1 hour 15 minutes), plus international connections from Seoul, Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. The airport is just 15 minutes from the My Khe Beach resort strip, and we arrange private car transfers for all our honeymoon packages.
